MNB course - FLIM

We are happy to announce the next MNB workshop. The workshop is about Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM), a technique that relies on the lifetime of fluorescence rather than intensity. It will be held on Tuesday 17th of February.

Registration will open on Tuesday 3rd of February at 10am. Add it to your agenda, few slots are available for the afternoon’s hands-on!

Program

Morning – at the DBM (Mattenstrasse, 28) - Theory

  • 9h – 9h10: Brief introduction of the MNB – Sara Roig (DBM Microscopy Core Facility) - hybrid session
  • 9h10 to 10h20: Basics of FLIM – Markus Ooster (Max Planck Institute of Biochemistr) - hybrid session
  • 10h30 – 12h: Showcase of FLIM applications – Jens Peter Gabriel (Leica Microsystems) - hybrid session

Afternoon – at FMI and DBSSE - Hands-on

  • 13h30 - 16h30 (DBSSE): Group 1: Flipper tension sensor in MDCK – Erica Montani (SCF, DBSSE) and Sara Roig (DBM Microscopy Core Facility)
  • 13h30 - 16h30 (FMI): Group 2: Protein-protein interaction in yeast – Laure Plantard (FAIM, FMI) and Jens Peter Gabriel (Leica Microsystems)

Important information:

  • Theory (morning) and hands-on (afternoon) require registration. Choose the ticket accordingly.
  • The morning session is also accessible online. The Zoom link will be sent to registered participants only.
  • To participate in the afternoon hands-on session, attendance at the theory lecture in-person is required.
  • Registration with a professional email address is mandatory (e.g., @unibas.ch, @fmi.ch, @iob.ch, @psi.ch, @ethz.ch).
  • The hands-on session is free of charge; however, a no-show fee of 50 CHF will apply if you do not cancel at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Ideally, participants already have hands-on microscopy experience.
