SUMMARY:MNB course - Introduction to Spatial Biology
DESCRIPTION:Dive into the world of spatial biology\, learn about the commer
cial as well as custom designed solutions and analysis pipelines.\\r\\nReg
 ister here: Registration [https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/introduction-to-s
 patial-biology-2026-tickets-1988469475730?aff=oddtdtcreator]\\r\\nSpatial
biology is the study of how individual cells fit within the context of a t
issue\, what their environment says about their behavior\, where they are
and why they are there. In this course\, we provide an introduction to spa
tial transcriptomics and spatial proteomics methods\, introduce you to the
existing spatial omics microscopy systems in the facilities in Basel\, an
d go through their basic analysis pipelines.\\r\\nThis workshop is articul
ated in two parts: A general introduction in the morning and hands-on sess
ions in the afternoon.\\r\\nThe general introduction (9:15-12:00\, at the
D-BSSE room D65.2)\\r\\nGeneral introduction to spatial biology\, includin
g spatial transcriptomics and spatial proteomics\, commercially available
solutions and custom-designed protocols. Please note that for the morning o
 nly\, registration is not required.\\r\\nHands-on session (13:15-17:00)\\r
\\nIn the hands-on sessions\, participants will learn how to run basic cel
l segmentation and data visualization of spatial omics datasets using SOPA
and QuPath. For participation in the hands-on session\, registration is re
quired\, and the presence in the theory sessions is mandatory.Prior experi
ence with basic programming is a plus.\\r\\nRegistration with a profession
 al email address is mandatory (e.g.\, @unibas.ch\, @fmi.ch\, @iob.ch\, @ps
 i.ch\, @ethz.ch).\\r\\nThe hands-on session is free of charge\; however\,
a no-show fee of 50 CHF will apply if you do not cancel at least 24 hours
in advance.\\r\\nWe kindly ask that you attend the full hands-on session i
f you register.\\r\\nPhotographs might be taken during the event. These ph
otos will be used for communication and promotional purposes on the MNB li
nkedin and website\, in press releases and in the communication channels o
f the organizing and partner institutions. If you don’t want to be photo
graphed\, please inform the organisation team before the workshop.
